46 NEW TREES IN OUR PARK

As the summer comes to a close, Seward Park is continuing to grow with the delivery of 46 new trees at the end of August. Our Gardener Austin, along with board members and volunteers, added these trees in plant beds throughout the park. Although small now, these trees will one day add shade for our community to relax under for decades to come!

The planting is part of our effort to replace some of the plants and trees that did not survive the drought of the past year. To combat the increasing temperatures, we are planting native flora.

OUR FOUNTAIN IN BLOOM

As their final project of the summer, our Seward Park Summer Associates Joseph and Bingjie planted beautiful greenery in the Jacob H. Schiff Fountain at the Essex Street entrance. Although it has been many years since water ran through this fountain, it still stands tall as one of the most eye-catching landmarks of Seward Park. This new planting breathes new life and art into this historic structure.

Thank you to our inaugural class of Summer Associates for all of your support in the park this summer. We will miss you greatly and are so grateful for this gorgeous final planting.

HELP SEWARD PARK FLOURISH

We are thrilled to share that we have met our match for our ioby fundraiser through the NYC Green Fund Crowdfunding Challenge! Thank you to everyone who donated to our campaign to make that possible, and thank you to NYC Partnership for Parks who has supported the fundraiser!

If you have yet to give, our campaign is still open. Every dollar donated goes back into the park and lets us care for the plants and put on community events for all ages.

  • $25 funds child-friendly trowels and gloves for planting days

  • $50 provides new native plants for the park

  • $100 funds supplies to tend to plants throughout the year

  • $250 supports our Seward Park Conservancy Gardener to nurture the park

Seward Park Conservancy is community run and in order to help the park flourish we need our community's support! Donate today!
