350+ NEW NATIVE POLLINATOR PLANTS

Hi, friends! Have you seen what's new and in bloom at Seward Park?

On April 15th, Seward Park Conservancy hosted a morning of planting. With the help of some hardworking volunteers, we tidied up our gardens and planted more than 350 new native pollinator plants! Some of our newest additions include swamp milkweed, crème brûlée tickseed, phlox paniculata, and solar cascade goldenrod.

We want to thank every amazing volunteer who came and got their hands dirty with us! We're thrilled so many people were interested in joining this community effort to ensure our neighbors have a clean, vibrant greenspace to enjoy as the weather warms up.

We loved getting to see both new and familiar faces. If you couldn't make it out last time, be sure you're following our Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accountswe'll be posting about new volunteer opportunities soon!

SEWARD PARK LIBRARY: RENOVATIONS AND REVENUE

Seward Park Library is closed for renovations until at least the end of July 2023. We're sad to share this news in conjunction with a devastating update from City Hall: Mayor Adams has proposed a staggering $52.7mil cut to public libraries, the steepest cut faced by our libraries in a decade.

If the NYPL has ever provided you with a service, a safe space, or a smile, please tell City Hall you oppose this drastic funding cut

WORLD BEE DAY

Bzz bzz...May 20th is World Bee Day! This holiday holds a special place in our hearts, as Seward Park has one of the very few Pollinator Places in the city. Next time you're at the park, look out for our bee houses, where solitary-nesting bees reside when they aren't busy pollinating our gardens and ensuring our plants flourish!

Abrons Art Center's exhibit The Feels: District 1 Arts Festival is on display May 9 - May 28.

#PLAYFAIR #1PERCENT4PARKS

These hashtags may be familiar, as plenty of our favorite greenspaces around NYC have shared in solidarity a call for Mayor Adam and the NYC Council to follow through on their commitment to providing 1% of the City budget for NYC Parks maintenance & operations. Sign the petition here
